  This picture was painted on a very sunny day. I enjoyed the peace of the day and enjoyed the fact that there was no wind for a change in the east coast of Scotland!

  A cold yet sunny day on the Scottish east coast.

Catching my eye was the lobster pot embedded in the sand and the shapes that the sea had created round about it as the tide fell back.

  Autumn at Westhaven Beach was particularly influenced by the brightness of light hitting on the fishing boat and the detailed sea grasses surrounding it.

  I met the owners of the boats and they were painting them and putting them away for the winter months.

This particular boat is used for salmon fishing in the sea at Westhaven Carnoustie.

  While I was travelling I stopped to paint this most dramatic view of the Scottish North West coast before dark.

Moods abound in this painting and it was a sight of light and contrasts that I simply couldn’t resist.

It was a very bright day with fast moving clouds as I walked with an 83 year old friend and she commented on the dramatic light on the sand. I went home and painted it to capture the moment forever!
